For Schools & CTE Programs

Paid work-based learning for schools and career-tech programs.

Your students need real work experience. Local employers want young talent but hesitate over payroll, HR, and workers' comp. An employer of record connects the two, with no extra lift for your staff.

How it works for schools

1. Share InternCrew with students and families

We partner with high schools, local colleges, career and technical education programs, and workforce development organizations.

2. We screen and place

We screen students and place them with vetted local employers in pathways like healthcare, construction and skilled trades, advanced manufacturing, IT, and transportation and logistics.

3. We employ the student

As the employer of record, InternCrew makes the student its W-2 employee. Payroll, HR, compliance, and workers' comp stay off your plate and the employer's.

4. We report back

We report hours, placements, and progress back to your school for every student you refer, so you have real numbers for your work-based learning records.

Why an employer of record helps placements happen

Most employers want to bring on students. Then the questions start: Can we hire someone under 18? Who runs payroll? What about workers' comp? When InternCrew carries the employment, the employer can say yes and focus on mentoring. Learn more about how an employer of record works.

Indiana schools: HEA 1098

Indiana's 2026 work-based learning law addresses workers' comp for students in work-based learning programs and recognizes agreements with a third-party employer of record. Our plain-English HEA 1098 guide walks through it with citations to the enrolled act.

General information, not legal advice. Work-based learning credit and documentation rules vary by state and district.
FAQ

Questions schools ask us

What does this cost our school?

Nothing. Employers pay for the placement, so students and schools never get a bill.

Does this count toward graduation or work-based learning requirements?

In many states it can. Paid work-based learning often counts toward state graduation and career readiness requirements. We'll work with your counselors on what your state and school need documented.

How much staff time does it take?

Very little. You share InternCrew with students and families. We handle the screening, matching, onboarding, and payroll, and we report work data back to your school for educational tracking and state reporting.

Are placements safe for students under 18?

Yes. Every role follows state and federal child labor rules on hours and tasks, and InternCrew handles youth employment paperwork and carries workers' comp.

What does Indiana HEA 1098 mean for our program?

Indiana's 2026 law addresses workers' comp for students in work-based learning programs and recognizes agreements with a third-party employer of record. See our HEA 1098 guide for the details and citations.
